Over the Edge Cleveland fundraiser reels in $28,000 for Special Olympics Ohio

Over the Edge, a fundraiser that challenges people to rappel down the side of a hotel building in downtown Cleveland, raised tens of thousands of dollars for Special Olympics Ohio.

Participants needed to raise $1,000 each to participate in the Doubletree by Hilton in downtown Cleveland 17 story rappel. They scaled the building on Wednesday.

In all, $28,000 was raised by those involved in the fundraising effort.

Those in the media were offered a free rappel on Tuesday.

This year marks the second Over the Edge Special Olympics Ohio event.

Special Olympics Ohio works to provide year-round sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
